Scoring for Washington Assessments

The information below reflects only the minimum required passing score of each assessment. It does not include any other requirements that are needed to obtain a licensure and/or certificate to practice or teach in the state of Washington.
  • WEST-B: Results for each sub-test are reported on a scale with a range of 100-300. A scaled score of 240 represents the minimum passing score for each subtest. 
  • WEST-E: A scale score of 240 represents the minimum passing score for the test. Performance indicators are provided for each domain of the test. Equivalent tests
  • NES: A scale score of 220 represents the minimum passing score for the test. For more information on which NES tests have replaced WEST-E tests, see the NES transition timeline.
  • ProTeach: There are 12 criteria and each criteria receives a score. The 12 scores are summed to form a composite score. Each criterion will be scored on a 4-point rubric. A passing composite score must meet or exceed 31. 
  • Praxis II School Counselor (#0421): 156
  • Praxis II School Psychologist (#0401): 165.
  • edTPA: There are 15 rubrics and each rubric receives a score. The 15 rubrics are summed to form a composite score. For more information visit edTPA passing scores for Washington.
    • The passing score for the edTPA will be 35 during the 2015/16 and 2016/17 academic year.  World and Classical Language edTPAs will be 30.
    • The passing score for the edTPA will be raised to 40 beginning the 2017/18 academic year. (World and Classical Language edTPAs will be 34. 
    • The student voice rubrics are not currently consequential for candidates.
