edTPA Announcement (Handbooks Update - December 19, 2012)

posted Dec 19, 2012, 12:59 PM by Patti Larriva

Below is a message from SCALE regarding an update to the K-12 Physical Education, English as an Additional Language, and Special Education Handbooks:

Colleagues,
Our decision to extend the field test through Spring 2013 has allowed us to continue to make refinements to handbooks, scoring processes and training.

We appreciate your patience and collaboration as we work to "get things right." We recently provided a set of errata for candidate handbooks and now have decided to recall several handbooks that were inconsistent with the overall architecture of edTPA (sequence of rubrics and alignment with constructs).

Because these structural and content issues may impact candidate performance, scoring and standard setting, SCALE is recalling the previously issued edTPA handbooks in K-12 Physical Education, English as an Additional Language, and Special Education.
We regret that this recall will result in a delay in reissuing these handbooks for use in the Spring 2013 field test.

New versions (National and WA) for Physical Education and English as an Additional Language will be published and released on 12/21.
Special Education Handbooks will be released in early 2013.

We thank you for your ongoing good will. Happy Holidays!
