Registration Deadlines, Retake Entries, Scoring Reports

November 1, 2017

Dear Colleagues,

I hope this letter finds you well. We are writing to inform you how recent changes in laws and regulations will affect ProTeach Portfolio testing procedures. With the enactment of E2SHB 1341 by the Legislature in June of this year, and subsequent WAC amendments by the PESB, the ProTeach Portfolio assessment contract with ETS will be terminated on December 31, 2019. With this regard, PESB feels the need to share important updates on the submission dates, scoring reports, and retakes of ProTeach Portfolio assessment for a smooth transition. The following are key updates that candidates who plan to take the ProTeach Portfolio assessment should be aware of.

Future Submission Dates

The last date that educators may submit a ProTeach portfolio is June 28, 2019. Currently, there are four more submission dates available to educators: January 31, 2018; June 28, 2018; January 31, 2019, and June 28, 2019.

Score Reports

Scores will be released on March 28, 2018; August 23, 2018, March 28, 2019, and August 23, 2019. Scores from the June 28, 2019 submission will be available on August 23, 2019. Candidates will have the usual 20 calendar days to request a rescore, and rescores are typically completed by March (for January submissions) and September (for June submissions) of the year in which the portfolio is submitted. All candidates will have until December 31, 2019 to download their score reports. It is important to note that reports will NOT be available any time after December 31, 2019.

Retaking ProTeach Portfolio Entries

There will be no opportunities for candidates to submit a full or partial portfolio after the June 28, 2019 submission date. Any candidate not having achieved a passing score after the scoring assessment of June 28, 2019 will be unable to obtain a passing score. Candidates who have not passed may submit a full or partial portfolio for scoring on any of the remaining four submission dates through June 28, 2019.

ProTeach Portfolio Incentives

Candidates who achieve a passing score on the ProTeach portfolio may earn 150 clock hours per PESB WAC. These clock hours are eligible for salary advancement. Candidates with a passing ProTeach score may also apply for a Washington state professional certificate.

Please share this information with candidates and contact us if you have further concerns or questions.

Best Regards,
